Turkey
Turkey is a large country located in southeast Europe and Western Asia. It borders Bulgaria, Greece, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Iran, Georgia, Syria and Iraq. Its ports play an important role in the economy as it has long coastlines with the Black Sea, Aegean Sea and Mediterranean Sea. Major ports are owned and operated by Turkish State Railways (TCDD) or the Turkish Maritime Organization (TDİ). Its top ports are Haydarpaşa (Istanbul), Mersin, Izmir, Eregli, Ambarli and Gemlik. The country is developing its role as an intermodal trade hub between Europe and Asia. The Turkish port operators association is TÜRKLİM-Türkiye Liman İşletmecileri Derneği.
