Astrakhan

Astrakhan is a seaport in Astrakhan Region, Russia. The Astrakhan Region is located in the southeast of the European part of Russia in the Caspian Lowland in the lower reaches of the Volga River. The southern part of the region is washed by the Caspian Sea. The region borders on the Republic of Kalmykia and the Volgograd Region, and has a state border with the Republic of Kazakhstan. The region has grown in importance in the last eight months. The Russian invasion of Ukraine and subsequent international sanctions mean that the Astrakhan region is set for development as it becomes part of new trade routes targeting Asia.
