Genoa is a seaport in Northwest Italy, South of Milan; one of the most important seaports in Italy, in competition with the ports of Marseille and Barcelona; managed by Autorita’ di Sistema Portuale del Mar Ligure Occidentale (AdSP – Western Ligurian Sea Port Authority) which includes the ports of Genoa, Savona, Pra’ and Vado; the organisation is also known as “Ports of Genoa”; together the ports are Italy’s pre-eminent port range in terms of traffic volumes, product diversity and economic output, and play a pivotal role in the Mediterranean, in a global shipping industry characterised by carrier upsizing and mega liner alliances.
