Melilla
Melilla is a Spanish enclave in North Africa East of Ceuta. The Port of Melilla occupies a privileged location to the east of
the Strait of Gibraltar, which 10% of all global maritime traffic
passes through. Its ambitious project to extend the outer area of the port includes creating a container terminal with the capacity to handle two million TEU annually. Its focus on development and innovation have led the port to invest heavily in this area, the result being a modern and flexible infrastructure which provides high-quality services. The port is managed by Autoridad Portuaria de Melilla (APM – Port Authority of Melilla). State ports are managed by Puertos del Estado which executes port policy of the government; made up of 28 port authorities that manage the 46 ports.
