Pasaia
The Basque Port of Pasaia occupies a strategic location in Atlantic Europe, close to the French-Spanish border, and boasts direct connections with all trans-European transport routes. Specialising in cars, it has Europe’s only silo with direct access to vessels. Planned extension work will allow the port to provide services for traffic from its highly industrialised hinterland. The port is operated by Autoridad Portuaria de Pasaia (APP – Port Authority of Pasaia). State ports are managed by Puertos del Estado which executes port policy of the government; made up of 28 port authorities that manage the 46 ports.
