Astana, Kazakhstan (Ports Europe) September 19, 2023 – Westinghouse Air Brake Technologies Corporation (Wabtec) has signed an agreement with national railway company Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ).
Wabtec is a Fortune 500 company and a global leader in rail technology.
According to the agreement, Wabtec will invest $1 billion in the country’s transport sector. The U.S. company will set up and engineering centre and transfer some of its advanced technology. With this assistance, KTZ will produce locomotives using hydrogen technology.
State-owned KTZ aims to use the production to support its efforts to develop the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC).
